Lean team, alpine style. A near-perfect weather window and a daring push on the Grey Tower.
Ama Dablam in December is reserved for climbers who love solitude and spindrift. Our three-person rope team moved capsule-style, caching on the Mushroom Ridge and firing the summit push between twin jet streams.
Lesson learned: fixed lines from autumn were iced solid, so we backed them up with our own lightweight kit. Frostbite avoided thanks to a disciplined pace and aggressive hydration stops.
